I've been playing with setting up TerraSync , but as far as i can see it resides in my users' home directory which is on my 256GB Nvme that is a "Single Drive" reserved for TOS related stuff, and 256GB is way to small for what i intend to use TerraSync for.

i can see no way of moving it to another (bigger) volume ? or have i gone blind ?

I guess i could replace the TerraSync folder with a symlink folder to a folder on another volume using SSH ? would that work ?

Unfortunately, it is located in the user's home directory on the primary volume and moving it to another location is not currently supported.
Your idea of using soft links is theoretically possible, but we have not yet confirmed its feasibility.

i'll try it out when i'm done migrating everything from my old NAS' and update this thread with my findings

otherwise it's not a big deal, i could probably write a windows service that does what i need in a couple of evenings

i don't really need the versioning part , just to be able to offload rarely used files to the NAS, and retrieve them automatically when the are opened

You can add new team folders to TerraSync Server, which can come from other volumes.
Regarding the need to provide the option to turn off version control, this will be evaluated by the product team.
