UNACCEPTABLY SLOW D5 Thunderbolt 3

TerraMaster D5 Thunderbolt 3 in RAID 5 (I think)
direct-connected to: MacBook Pro 16" M3 Max
with: original Thunderbolt 3 cable
also tried: certified Thunderbolt 4 cable
Speeds are less than 40 Mbps for read & write?!
This is absolutely unacceptable! Where is the firmware update?
