All data moving going via 3rd party.

Hi. Am I missing something?
I have a F5-221 on an ethernet cabled backbone with 2x WD MyClouds on it and a 4TB USB hard drive attached to the internet router.
The F5-221 is only being used within the local network and not as any sort of cloud or remote access gadget.
It is just being used as storage for previously created backups and other data, no RAID whatsoever and has 2x 4TB 1x 2TB and 1x 128GB SSD as a Cache
I access the F5-221 through my laptop using Wifi from the internet router.
When I tell the F5-221 to move stuff between itself and anywhere else from the laptop using the TOS desktop through TNAS for PC, all the data routes via my Laptop instead of from the F5-221 directly to/from other storage on the Cabled ethernet? Obviously this is very slow.
Surely the F5-221 should be doing it directly, it would be many times faster and was what I expected?
The device was only initalised this month and the TNAS for PC ditto.
How to get it to go to/from the destination directly?
Thanking you all in advance.
