For anyone needing to update the usb on a 424 model, you will find the USB difficult to remove/replace. It is necessary to remove the motherboard.

This, of itself, is not difficult. However, if you see the need to change the USB more than once (for testing different os versions for example) you will find something like this useful:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0953LMVJH? ... tails&th=1

It needs to be UP-Angled (Down-angled will conflict with casing)
It needs to be Flat/Slim version with ribbon cable (Modular plugs with a cable do not fit)
20cm ribbon is adequate, 50cm is long, 100cm is excessive

I mounted the USB socket using velcro on the inside of the side casing next to the fan.

CAUTION:
1. The usb ribbon cable is self-assembly. Do not lose the clips!

2. When removing motherboard and/or the rear panel it is possible for the power button cap to part company with the switch. It can fly anywhere and is hard to find, especially on a dark carpet  Not too hard to replace, but you do need to make sure the switch is centered on the aperture in the back panel, otherwise it can catch. I loosely attached the motherboard screws first, made sure the panel fit was ok, then tightened everything.

Yes, I know you probably would like pictures, but there aren't any :!: I was too (.........) [You name it] looking for parts on the floor..........

The usb ribbon can also be applied to other models when appropriate.
