Synology on F4-220

Hi,

I have a F4-220. I downloaded the Synology firmware. Booted the F4-220. I go through the cloud install. I get to Installing Diskstation manager. It gets to 96% and hangs - if I refresh the page or reload the page, it starts back at 56%, starts counting up, then hangs again at 96.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I seem to recall Synology took (takes?) a dim view of people running their software on other hardware. 'Xpenology' springs to mind. Maybe you should look there (Reddit etc) or consider using one of the more established 'nas alternatives' if you don't want to use the default software. If you search you may find the odd "success" story on here ('Unraid' for one, that I know of) but mostly you will need to look in the forums for each individual os to get details of 'How to'.

I've also tried redpill, it asks for what model DS to 'emulate'? Any suggestions on that?
Thanks.

Use Arc Loader https://auxxxilium.tech/redpill/ on boot and initialization it will offer the best choice for the hardware, but you can override that and choose a different model too if you want.

When push comes to shove, you could always do the install, and if the correct number of disks or SSDs or other hardware are not being detected, go back and choose a different model and install again, it doesn't take that long!
