Home folder encryption

Hello there. I was wondering if `Home` folders are / can be encrypted, like how Shared Folders can be?
There doesn't appear to be anywhere where this can be configured, or at least it isn't obvious (for example; are home directories encrypted using the user's password??).

Without knowing this, I question what data I should be storing in these locations, and/or if I should ignore the home folder and create a separate encrypted share per user. And if I take this approach, how I can suppress the default home folder from appearing, such to prevent users accidentally uploading files to this (potentially) unencrypted storage location.

Thanks in advance!

You can disable Home Folders in

Control Panel > Users > More > Advance
untick 'enable' home folders

The user directory does not support encryption. But you can indeed set up encrypted shared folders that are only visible to certain users to achieve the same effect.

Thank you both!

I see the TNAS Mobile app allows you to create an encrypted sub-directory within your home folder. TOS desktop however doesn't give visibility of this unfortunately.

In any case, I think I may switch off home-directories and create them manually instead.
