D6-320 modding fans

Hi everyone,

I am a new happy owner of a D6-320 SATA enclosure.

Can anyone tell me what fan connectors are used inside this enclose? Has anyone tried to replace the fans to some paticular silent fans like they were popular in die PC modding days?

I wonder if it is possible to exchange the fans and the enclosure will continue to operate normal?

Thanks guys

I suspect the only way to find out will be to remove the case and have a look. To date I think most TM nas units have used industrial type connectors rather than the standard pc (PWM) types. I have one unit that has BOTH on the motherboard (But no idea if they work!)

You can find posts about rewiring, but some of the pin assignments are, I believe, unprooved - or just contradictory.

Hey everyone,

here are some snapshots from the enclosure internals.

The two fans have a white 4 pin connector with a latch that secures the connector.

Anothers picture shows the fans that are used by the manufacturer.

Can you guys suggest a very silent fan that might fit in here? If the connector does not fit, i will cut the wires and solder them to the old cables or get an empty plugs with wires to solder the new fans to.

I will try to look up the specs for the factory fan to find a suitable fan too.

Can you tell me the name of these white factory plugs with a securing latch aswell?

Thanks guys

I just noticed the power seems quite low with 0.14a.

Unfortunately the fan is not listed at https://www.snowfan.hk

I wonder if all these aftermarket fans do run at around 0.14a only?

Unfortunately I am not able to edit my posts...

Are theses white factory fan connectors maybe those?

This is my favorite fan with has even lower power consumption with 0,08a only:

Noctua NF-A8 PWM

The downside is they are a bit expensive I think...

Hi,
Were you able to find out if the Noctua fans/connectors are compatible?
I'd like to replace the original fans as well since the original ones are not as quiet as I expected.
Thank you.

Hi,

these fans seem to be compatible most likely by the pin layout but not by the connector.

I will order some fans the next week's and will use my multimeter to check the pins.

I think it is needed to build an adapter or solder a new connector to the noctua fans to make them work.

You can use a soldering iron for this or build an adapter with a crimp tool.

Sorry I can not give more details to this. I have to try this all out first to be 100% sure.

I will keep you guys posted.

Hi,
Have you tried replacing the fan? If so, did you have to make any mods to the connector?

Thank you very much for your answer
