Hi,
Bought a D5-300, my first RAID setup. just to back up photos and videos. Configured to RAID 1 with 2 drives.
Question- in the future, if 1 drive failed---How do i replace the drive, and restore the data from the other RAID 1 disk?

Here are the steps to repair the DAS:

1. Turn off the DAS.
2. Remove the faulty hard drive and insert a new hard drive, ensuring that the new hard drive has a larger capacity than the previous one.
3. Restart the DAS, it will automatically initiate the repair process. Wait for the repair to complete.

- Why it has to be a larger disk then the previous one? Will the same size HDD work?

- also if it's a late disks like mine is 16tb. That will take quite long to repair right? I was trying a bit. Like when I turn them back on. I could still power off until the next time power on. Is that correct?

- do I need the pc running to do that?

Because different hard drive brands have different definitions of 1TB capacity, some are larger and some are smaller. So the safest approach is to make it larger than before.
