Acessing the F4-424 directly via ethernet

Hi,
I just bought a F4-424.
My computer has 2 network cards:
- the 1st one is 1gbe and is connected to the home router
- the 2nd one is 2.5gbe and is connected directly to the NAS
The NAS has 2 ethernet ports:
- one is connected to the router (which is only 1gbe)
- the other is connected directly to my PC's 2.5gbe network card
I can see I have the two IP's, one is 192.168.x.x. and the other is 169.254x.x
I mounted a network drive on Windows using the 169.254.x.x thinking it would use the 2.5gbe network card to maximize speed but I'm only getting around 1gbe and looking at windows task manager, I can see it is using the 1gbe network card.
Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance.
