IMPORTANT NOTICE

Attention: TOS 5.1 System Update

If your initial system was TOS 4.x and your system partition is 2GB, please refrain from updating to the new TOS 5.1 version. The updated version demands more storage space, and this requirement may not be met by your current system.

How to Check Your System Partition Size:

Navigate to "TOS > Control panel > System Info > Overview" and inspect the available space under the "/" section.

In the event that your TNAS does not meet the storage conditions but you wish to proceed with TOS 5.1.131, please follow the guidelines provided here: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4912

Important Notes:
  • Users of TOS 5.1.37 should be aware that encrypted folders created in this version may face decryption issues in subsequent updates. It is recommended to back up data in the encrypted shared folder and delete it before proceeding with the update. This applies only to encrypted shared folders created in TOS 5.1.37.
  • The kernel of TOS 5.1 has been updated to 5.15. As a result, Intel Celeron J1800/J1900 GPU drivers are no longer supported in these models. If you rely on GPU hardware video acceleration and own any of the affected models, avoid updating to TOS 5.1. These models include F2-220, F2-420, F4-220, F4-420, and F5-420.
  • While the system update typically doesn't affect your hard drive data, it is strongly recommended to back up your data to ensure its safety before proceeding with the update.
How to Update Your TOS:

Manual Update:
  1. Download the update package here (md5: aed12dcfe7fb645146bb4ed5174ae83a).
  2. Go to TOS > Control Panel > General Settings > System.
  3. In the "Manual Update" section, upload the update package.
  4. Click "Apply."
  5. After the system update is complete, refresh your web browser.
  6. Note that your TNAS's IP address may change after the update; if you can't connect with the previous IP, search for the new IP using the TNAC PC client.

TNAS PC:

After updating to TOS 5.1, ensure that your current TNAS PC is updated to version 5.0.33 or a later version. This step is essential for searching your TNAS device.

Download TNAS PC 5.0.35 for Windows OS
Download TNAS PC 5.0.41 for macOS

It is recommended to uninstall the previous version before installing this version of TNAS PC.

Issue Report:

If you encounter any issues during use, please report them on the TerraMaster official forum, or email your issue description and screenshots to pm(at)terra-master.com.

Just updated my F5-221. No issues as it looks.
Still not very convenient that new versions do not appear when checking from Control Panel but have to be checked for and applied manually.

F5-420 / Updated from 5.1.24 (brand new install)
I was in a 4.x TOS. I backedup everything and started from scratch for a new TOS 5.1.24 install
Straight forward, I updated into the latest release (J1900 not supported anymore, don't care about video acceleration)

Update process was ok.
3 items seem to be faulty so far
- TNAS for PC does not even see the device anymore even if I am connected to it
- In the overview, I do not see anymore the system portion, I assume still at 8 go but it does not show anymore in the overview screen (was visible at 5.1.24)
- the update in the Terramaster certificate does not seem successful, Google chrome is keeping complaining the connection is not secured due to invalid certificate. By the way, I am never able to reach the device directly with the IP, it claims "access denied". I need to add manually the HTTPS port (set to default so far) ":5443/tos/#" to reach the login page.
Any thoughts ?

Al

Just updated my F4-420 from TOS 5.1.123 to 5.1.131. Smooth update. All files were preserved and all Docker containers up and running. So far so good.

updated my t9-450 from 5.1.123 to 5.1.131. The only issue i monitored up to now a few docker containers was not started after reboot due start errors (exit 2). But a manual restart worked in all these cases

Why does the location for integrating USB devices change? /mnt/@usb was optimal. So the physical drive was left alone.

Since it seems like it's fun for you to change from /Volume1/@usb/ to /mnt/@usb/ in one version and change back from /mnt/@usb/ to /Volume1/@usb/ in another, and that for some users that is not entertainment but a workload, could you at least make the two forms equivalent? It does not seem to be difficult to program and this would prevent us from changing access to folders, for example in PLEX.
