Why can't I connect to another TNAS for backup operations using Duple Backup?

Applicable versions:
TOS 5, TOS 6
Applicable models:
All TNAS models
Fault phenomenon:
When using TNAS's Duple Backup application to create a backup task, when trying to back up to another TNAS, I found that I could not successfully connect to the target TNAS.
Solution:
1. First, please check whether the two TNAS are in the same LAN. If they are in different networks, please refer to :
viewtopic.php?t=6091
2. Confirm whether the target TNAS has been installed and successfully enabled the server program (Duple Backup Vault).
3. Check whether the IP address, port number (default is 7922), user name and password of the target TNAS are entered correctly to ensure they are correct.

I'm having the same problem.
Installed Duple Vault on my old NAS (T4-221) and Duple backup on my newer NAS (T5-421).
I install the beta version of Duple Vault on my T4-221, where I want to save the backups and Duple Backup on the T5-421. When I try to create a backup task, it fails to connect?
What are the dependencies for Duple Vault / Duple Backup and how can I check them to make sure they are working?
Thanks
R

In my setup:
I have a F2-223 & F4-223 each on different networks.
I have a simple patch cable connecting the two via NIC 2 and static IPs.
Both have Duple Backup and Duple Vault.
I did create a user specifically to use for backups, just making sure that user has permissions for the folders needed on both NAS.
I run the Duple using the static IP of the target and Duple Vault does need to be on the target NAS

How do I choose the right backup method? Centralized backup? Duple backup? CloudSync? Or something else?

For my setup I used the 2nd NIC on F2-223 & F4-223 and just assigned an IP for example 192.168.3.1 and .2, What worked was NOT using a crossover cable but just a normal patch cable. The backup job references the 2nd NIC IP. Granted this only works if the two NAS are close enough for a cable to reach.
