I added 16GB of SK Hynix DDR4 RAM to my F4-423 for a total of 20GB of RAM including the stock DIMM.
I notice that for general NAS use including SMB/Plex, memory usage rarely goes beyond 1GB, mostly hovering between 500-700MB.
My question is - what use cases or applications readily available in the TOS platfoorm would benefit from this much memory?
20GB of RAM but barely utilised

I thought Hyper Cache uses SSDs?

Yes, but it needs ram to function as well.

I see. I actually prefer to use my SSDs for storage, so I wonder if there's a way to use excess RAM for caching in TOS, similar to ZFS ARC caching?
