Help adding drive

I have 3x 4TB drives full and would like to add a 14TB drive.
I have inserted it. File explorer does not see it.
TNAS sees it but I can only make a new volume with it.
I have backed up everything and would like to know the process of adding the 14TB.
Do I delete the volume and then transfer everything back from exeternal harddrives over a week?
Or reformat it and do the same?
