Storage degraded

So I just recently purchased this system with 2 8tb drives. I've had the system since 1/27/2024 so less than 2 weeks
This is the second time I've received this message
The RAID in storage pool 0 has been degraded! Please check if you have a failed drive in your RAID, or if a drive has detached from the RAID. For your data security, you need to replace the failed hard disk and repair the RAID as soon as possible.
The first time it said both drives were healthy and did a rebuild which ran over night.
This system is at home and both my wife and I are currently at work so technically it's not even in use currently and I just just my gmail and again saw this message.
The RAID in storage pool 0 has been degraded! Please check if you have a failed drive in your RAID, or if a drive has detached from the RAID. For your data security, you need to replace the failed hard disk and repair the RAID as soon as possible.
This is twice I've seen this message. When I get home I will check the drives again.
Has anyone else had this?
Should I be worried that this occurred twice now.

Which system and which tos version. Plus drive details, thanks.
I have seen issues with drive overheat. Check smart info for max temps.

It's an F2-212
HDD1 temps 36C/96F
HDD2 temps 0C/32F
Both say normal
TOS 5.1
How can HDD1 temp be so high when it's idle during the day?

So after I rebooted the NAS it's now Rebuilding.
It's been running for over 1 hour now and only at 10%
What exactly is it rebuilding?
Why does it take so long?
do I have a faulty system or faulty drive?
Both drives say Good Health and are normal but again this is the second time in less than 2 weeks and this is a new NAS system
Both 8tb are new, and so is this unit
The model of the drives are ST8000VN004 which are one the recommended list.
Should I just return this unit and go with another brand like Synology or
return the unit and drives and go with Buffalo with drives included
I tried to go to Terra-master website this afternoon and it took 2 minutes to come up
I select Live chat, nothing happens. What hours do they work?

I'm currently rebuilding 2x6TB drives. 2nd time since Thursday due to a system fault (2nd hand unit and drives.) Looking at about 20hrs per rebuild. I'd guess about 24hrs for 8TB.
It is the raid array that is being rebuilt.

So there Live Chat is a total joke.
It's offline, then around 9:30 pm it came online and this was the conversation
Me:
Hello - So today around 12:30 pm I got an email at work
The RAID in storage pool 0 has been degraded! Please check if you have a failed drive in your RAID, or if a drive has detached from the RAID. For your data security, you need to replace the failed hard disk and repair the RAID as soon as possible.
Device name: TNAS-386E
Model: F2-212
TOS version: TOS_ARM2.0_5.1.73
I've had this system since 1/27/2024, less than 2 weeks and this is the second time this has happened
This is a home system. My wife and I were both at work so no one was even home. The system should be idle
Both drives said they were normal, good health
Temps were
HDD1 36C/96F
HDD2 0C/32F
The system now is rebuilding and is at 38%. I started this 4 hours ago
Is this a faulty unit? What's wrong? why did it do this twice in less than 2 weeks since I purchased it
Them:
Hi dear customer, let me check
Dear customer, please go to conttrol panel, storage pool, choose and click edit, repair RAID
Me:
the storage pool 1 is currently rebuilding
Them:
The rebuilding takes time, please repair the RAID when the rebuilding is finished
Me:
so why has this happened twice in less than 2 weeks since I've had it. And how does it happen when no one is at home and it's technically not in use
Them:
Dear customer, let me check this issue
And never received any response after that. This morning the rebuild fininshed around 5:40am since I got the email
12 hours to rebuild.
Now I go into menu and edit is disabled
I'm seriously thinking of returning this unit for Synology

I'm not particularly familiar with 212 type models, but running TOS5.1 on there may have something to do with it. Maybe double check the update notes and compatibility.

I keep seeing that TOS 6 is advertised so I clicked check for updates in my TOS and it says it's up to date

TOS6 is irrelevant at this stage. Only a Beta for a limited number of selected testers. Also available updates for TOS 5.1 may not appear in GUI for various reasons. Check the Updates section of this forum which has more detailed info or TM support pages for your model (if/when they are accessible).
