Can't access Plex Media Server folder.

Post by mikey4g »

I can't access the /Plex Media Server folder to update files needed from a backup. TNAS will not allow me to view the Plex folders from FTP or File Explorer. File Manager in TNAS will not upload folders, just files. Need help

We speculate that this is the public or appdata folder of other volumes that cannot be displayed. (TOS can only display the public or appdata of one volume)
May I ask which TNAS model and TOS version you are using?

May I ask if the permissions assigned to Plex by user group media are read and write?
Can you log in to TNAS using SMB on your computer.

Hi yes, I can log in to TNAS using SMB but the Plex folder will not show up and if I try opening the folder by typing it in it askes for user ID and password. Anything I try says access denied. I didn't set anything for this folder to begin with. Yes permissions are set for user and user group for Plex.

TOS can only display the public or appdata of one volume.
You can log in to SSH and use Linux commands to move files from invisible directories to visible ones (For safety reasons, it is recommended to copy first and then delete old files.)

I understand TOS can only display the Public or Appdata of one volume.

Is it possible to display the Plex folder temporarily to move some files there from another place? Then put it back to Public or Appdata?

I do not know how to use SSH and Linux commands to move files.

Maybe you can use WinSCP's SCP (SSH) to connect to tnas, which does not require instructions, but browse your data like file management.
