Under the current methods I doubt it would happen. With possible exception of nvme drives, TOS is setup with a raid 1 mirror on each hdd for the Operating system. As long as the OS is active, all the hdd will, logically. also be active. It is mooted that TOS6 will permit the installation of OS on user selected drive(s), but that will have to wait until TOS6 installation files become available. TOS6 Beta is currently only available to Beta testers as an update package relying on the initial disk setup.

This is a correct answer.

It would make sense to abolish the RAID mode history. Each HDD gets 4 partitions, one partition being the mirror partition of the OS. Basically it makes no sense.
The advantage of this is that the system starts as soon as the "main" HDD is no longer running. Otherwise it makes no sense unfortunately.

As you can set the dedicted drive to be system drive, so In future TOS 6 releases, individual HDD sleep is possible, we have added it to our to do list.
