I am new to using nas, and the first one I use is my new F4-423, I am doing tests to get used to its operation.

After initializing it with a 1Tb HDD on a Single Disk, and recording some data, I put another 1Tb hard drive on it, my intention was to change it to TRAID, but from what I see this is not possible, , it has become a RAID 1

How can I go from Single Disk to TRAID or from RAID 1 to TRAID?

If you want to go for TRAID, you have to do that from the beginning. Single or RAID 1 can't migrate to TRAID.

I am wondring about this too, so if I understand what is being said here corectly, if I am setting up my NAS for the first time I can use one drive.

In order to use TRAID I need a second drive.

I then convert my Single drive to RAID 1, then add the second drive and follow the prompts to make make it TRAID.

Sound right?

If there is only one disk, you can also set it to TRAID. When there is only one disk on TRAID , you can consider it as Single.

That makes the process of setting up TRAID at the start a lot easier than I thought it would be. Thank you for for the information.

I too am going from single drive to TRAID. I have added a 20TB drive and a 8TB drive. Both are installed as TRAID. Storage Pool shows both TRAID and Single Disk. I can still access Plex files from presumably the original single drive configuration, but I have been unable to access any data on the new TRAID. What step am I missing?
