My TNAS data transfer rate is low?

If the transfer speed between your TNAS and computer is significantly slower than normal, or even interrupted midway through the transfer, please follow the guidelines below to troubleshoot the issue step by step.
  • Ensure Gigabit connection between TNAS and your client computer. If you do not have a Gigabit router or switch handy, you can try connecting the network cable directly between the TNAS and your client computer to check if the low data transfer rate is caused by the router or network switch.
  • Make sure your network cable is CAT5/e, and not bent or degraded. You can try to use another cable to see if the problem persists or is solved.
  • If your computer is connected to a wireless network, please try to use a wired network to test the data transfer rate again.
  • Please ensure that your disk is properly installed. If you still encounter issues, please try removing the disk and reinstalling it before attempting again.
  • If you have recently created an array, please note that the newly created array needs to be synchronized. During the array synchronization process, the disk's I/O resources will be heavily occupied by the synchronization task, which will significantly affect the read and write performance of the storage space. It is recommended that you wait for the array synchronization to complete before performing data read and write operations.
  • Please ensure that the health status of the disk you are using is good. Faulty disks may experience abnormally slow data transfer or even timeouts.
  • Make sure no resource intensive tasks are running on the TNAS. Check the CPU and drive utilization in Resource Monitor, or go to Control Panel to stop all other services except the services you need to run.
  • Check the performance of your client computer。
  • CPU and storage performance of your client computer may affect the speed of file transfers. You can try to transfer files with a newer or different computer. Also, the drives on your computer may not be fast enough to accommodate the maximum speed of your TNAS, so you can consider using a computer with faster drives.
If all of the above items have been checked one by one and no issues have been found, then your device may have hardware faults, such as poor soldering quality of the SATA interface on the hard drive, motherboard failure, or malfunction of the network port chip.
