upgrade to F4-422 issues

I've been using a F2-210 for a while and decided to upgrade to the F4-422. I had recently upgraded the HDD in the old NAS to 10TB Ironwolf Pro and all was working well. I put the HDD in the F4-422 and it prompted me to install the TNAS which I did, initially installing the 5.0.176, then checking the amount of storage in / as suggested, then upgrading to 5.1.67 with an online update. The Volume and Storage pool both report Normal but the HDD manager reports HDD2 as unmounted. I've seen a couple of other posts where users have HDD2 unmounted issues but don't see a resolution, I have removed, reinserted and rebooted several times, SMART doesn't report any problems - any suggestions how to remedy this or is it an anomaly on the TNOS
Also, I have 2 external USB HDD, both worked in the F4-210. They both report as normal in the HDD manager but the USB manager reports no mounted USB device. I can see and mount both drives on my windows PC - how do I mount these on the TNOS so I can use the USB backup app?
Any help welcome, I suspect it's me not seeing something obvious.
