Hi,
Looking at buying the F5-221, if I opt for 16tb drives in single disk configuration (just using the F5 as a NAS/plex server), do I need to initialise the disk first or can I put an existing drive in without losing data?

Re: F5-221/single disk/16TB
You will need to initialize the disk. The operating system is loaded on to the disk (system partition) as well as the boot/init partition and a swap partition. NAS is always set to boot from a hard drive. If one drive "goes missing" (assuming multiple drives eventually) the NAS should always boot to the current OS version.
F5-221 5.1.123, 8GB System Partition on 3 x 4TB Traid; 3TB EXT4
F2-221 TOS6 (Beta), 8GB System Partition on 2 x 6TB in Traid. (Latest Update 11/04/24)

Re: F5-221/single disk/16TB
Ok Thankyou. So it doesn’t store the OS internally like a synology?
Re: F5-221/single disk/16TB
Actually, I'm not sure Synology does what you think. But, never used one. I found this just to get my bearings:

This is essentially same way TNAS operates.
Synology do have pretty good documentation and I use it a lot to check out things for my TNAS. (Which I view, very much, as a synology clone)
