WARNING!
Since the new version of TOS 5.1 system requires more storage space, if your initial system was TOS 4.x and the system partition is 2GB, please do not update to this version.

To check your system partition size,
Go to "TOS > Control panel > System Info > Overview", and check the space from the item of "/" .

If your TNAS does not meet the conditions but your want to use TOS 5.1.41, you can refer to the following guideline: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4912

Release Notes

Applicable models: F2-220, F2-420, F4-220, F4-420, F5-420, F2-221, F2-421, F2-422, F4-221, F4-421, F4-422, F4-223,F5-221, F5-225, F5-421, F5-422, F8-421, F8-422, F2-223, F4-223, F2-423, F4-423, T6-423, T9-423, T12-423,T9-450;

This update includes the following bug fixes and optimization for the previous version:

Bugs fixed
1. Fixed some issues with TNAS PC login.
2. Fixed some issues of permission management in File Manager.
3. Fixed the issue that USB Copy could not obtain USB online status.
4. Fixed the issue that files cannot be deleted in File Manager after cleaning the recycle bin via SMB.
5. Optimized the operation of the boot partition when creating a disk array.

Important Notes
  • There is an error in the encryption mechanism of encrypted folders created on TOS 5.1.37, which prevents them from being decrypted in later versions. Therefore, if you are using TOS 5.1.37, before updating TOS, please back up the data in the encrypted shared folder, and then delete the encrypted folder. (Only need to deal with the encrypted shared folder created in TOS 5.1.37, other encrypted Shared folders are not affected by this)
  • The kernel of TOS 5.1 has been updated to 5.15. Since the Linux kernel has removed the Intel Celeron J1800/J1900 GPU drivers from 5.15, the models of this platform no longer support GPU hardware video acceleration. If you are a user of this series of models and need to use GPU hardware video acceleration, do not update TOS 5.1! Models involved: F2-220/F2-420/F4-220/F4-420/F5-420
  • Under normal circumstances, the system update will not affect the data in your hard drives, but for your data safety, it is strongly recommended that you back up your data before the update!

Update installed. Links appeared to take longer to come up than previously.

Note: Not convinced that 'auto-fan' mode is still working as previously. within 10 minutes of reboot fan was at 0 revs and device temp climbing to +55C. [Disk hibernation set to 30 mins.]

From the control panel option to check for updates, it has several versions that have stopped working. It always says no updates when there are.
I do not think it is a priority failure to repair but I do not know if it is known.

My migration from v5.1.41 from 5.1.40 went without a hitch. The performance and system appears to be stable and as expected.

Prior to doing a full rebuild of the system from the New Build imaged (not the upgrade ones), the system has been working flawlessly and SMB performance is where I would have expected it. I was just about ready to scrap the system from a new unit from a different vendor, but I can say now that I'm going to stick with this as my NAS. I have to believe that I was due to the system shipping with v4.x (2gb boot partition) on it and I did an upgrade to 5.0, etc. Once I did a new install of 5.1.33, the new boot partition size was created (8gb) and the system has been smooth sailing.

More a note for those having major issues, it may require a new install to get the unit where it should be.

I have upgraded to 5.1.41 from 1.5.40. No problem.
My apps work fine. Thank you so much.
----------------------
As a mere curiosity (it doesn't bother me at the moment), I am attaching 4 frames in which an incongruity appears that has been revealed since version .24 and that has continued through .29, .33, .34, .37 and .40 :?: :?:

Updated TOSHIBA 5.1.40 to 5.1.41 everything is fine. VLC started working via UPnP! On 5.1.40 VLC via UPnP did not work.
