Not enough space on foldername when moving files

I am moving files from my ToS 5.133 machine to my Windows 11 machine

I am doing this from Windows 11 and coping from a mapped drive (mapped to a folder share on my NAS) into a folder on the Windows 11 machine.

I am copying from a ToS volume with 326GB Free to a new drive on Windows 11 with 1TB free.

Every now and then the process halts with a message saying that "There is not enough space on <Folder Name>"

It then says for example "3.76MB is needed to move this item. Delete or move files so you have enough space".

The message is in Windows.

If I skip the file the process continues including the copying of much larger files.

When the in-progress "Move" completes I try again and run into the same issue with the same files.

This feels like it's file permissions related rather than size related.

Is this something that anyone else has come across and does anyone know what the solution might be?

Perhaps you can try transferring without running some computer applications after restarting the computer.

It's nothing to do with load on my Windows machine. I've restarted both the NAS and the windows machine and the problem persists

It's happening with the same folders and files every time I try to move them.

Because you are copying from TNAS to your Windows, this means you are reading from TNAS and writing to your Windows. There is no limitation on reading. And your windows reported there no enough space, so you need to check your windows. Or please check if there are some hidden files inside the folder you are copying.

Generally speaking, this seems to be a problem on the hard disk of the computer. You can do a test by copying a similar amount of data on the hard disk of the PC to another location on the hard disk of the PC. Or you can try to right-click the disk on the PC > select "Properties" ">Select "tools", execute "Error checking" and "Optimize and defragment drive".

Similarly, if you think there is a problem with the hard disk on the NAS, you can also copy the data on the NAS hard disk to other locations on the NAS hard disk to test whether there is a read-write failure.

I tried to move data to different folders on the NAS but my SuperUser gets "operation failed" when creating new Shared Folders and new folders within a share.

I get the feeling that SuperUser permissions are the source of a lot of my issues as my superuser has somehow ended up in the All Users Group (which I believe should be impossible) and the Media group. This means that they are showing as having Read, Read/Write and Deny on most folders.

I'm continuing to move as many files off the NAS as I can and will see if I can focus on permissions on those files that are left behind once that is done. I've not had any additional instances of this issue over the last few days.

My gut feeling with the issue where the file move halts and says that there is not enough space is that the only area on my NAS or my Windows machine where I know that space IS close to running out is the system partition on my NAS which only has around 200MB free. I'd hazard a guess that somehow the move activity is causing the system partition to temporarily run out (temp space, logging, etc ?) . Is it possible that this could be causing the issue ?

It is possible. We can't judge the problem based on your limited description. If possible, please try to collect a log from TOS-Technical Support-Issues Report and send it to us for checking.
