Transfer speed fluctuations

Hi,

We have a F5-420 with TOS version 5.1.33. We experience transfer speed fluctuations when writing from the PC to the NAS. In the opposite direction the transfer speed is stable. See below screenshots.

How can we improve the PC to NAS transfer speed stability?

Hi,
You can try connecting each device to your router or networking switch via a wired Ethernet connection. A 2.5 GbE networking switch can further improve transfer rates, but beyond that point, speed improvements are a money pit1.

You can also check the status of your client PC and transfer a file using another PC to Synology NAS. If the data transfer rate of different PCs is consistent, proceed to check the network status of your Synology NAS and client computer.
Hope that this solution is useful for you!

Did you copypasta a Synology forum post?

OP doesn't mention a Synology NAS at all.

I think a lot of TOS is lifted from Synology anyway.

For example, just compare Synology's SMB settings to those found in TOS: https://kb.synology.com/en-ph/DSM/help/ ... version=6 . There are more examples but this is the only one off the top of my head.

I learnt a lot more about my TNAS from the Synology documentation than the TOS documentation

They are both based off of the same open source code for many components of their respective operating system offerings, that's why there are similarities.
