Can't see USB unless EXT4

F2 -221, TOS 5.1.24
Since moving the 5.1 .24 the External USB can't be seen unless it's EXT4. I've tried reformatting as exfat but it just won't see it for whatever reason.
Windows obviously can't see an EXT4, and I've previously used my back up on my PC with no issues until the upgrade, USB Copy stopped working too as it thought the drive was removed.
Any thoughts on a fix for this? It's useless me backing up as EXT4 when I need to use it elsewhere!
