Like a previous post, my disks all appear to be good, but the volume and storage pool show "RAID is degraded."

Please expand the storage pool page to see which hard disk is detached from the array, check whether it is not installed or the hard disk is damaged, if the hard disk is damaged, you need to replace the hard disk to repair it.
It may be that the hard disk is not inserted tightly, which causes the array to degrade. Please insert the hard disk firmly and restart the device.

There was no indication in the GUI that any of the hard drives were problematic. Support replied after I uploaded my log export to them that it was /dev/sdc, which in my case was actually the middle drive. At this point, I have removed that drive and am attempting to get the unit to rebuild on the hot spare. Not as automatic as I had hoped.

After removing the problem drive, I saw that the Volume and Storage Pool both show RAID is degraded with no evidence that it's trying to repair itself. I selected the pool and started the "Repair RAID" routine, selecting the spare drive. That all looked good but there is still no evidence of a repair or rebuild.

I moved the 'hot spare' to the slot formerly containing the bad drive. Now, after manually firing the process, it is rebuilding on that drive.

I should add the following:
All 5 drives are newly-purchased WD Red 4TB drives. Conveniently, WD support is mostly offline atm. I will see about getting a swap on the supposed bad disk, but I am sensing a disconnect between the gui and the backend on this to be sure.

So, yes, there is a question in here. Why didn't the hot spare take over and rebuild?

I relocated the "hot spare" to the slot where the failed drive had previously been. The procedure was manually started, and it is currently rebuilding on that drive.
