unable to change IP address and DHCP not working!

I have a new F4-210 and after 10 hours of trying to get this initialization and up and running to no avail.

I downloaded the TOS 4.2.4.1 and 4.1.3.2, both failed to work.

The first issue is that DHCP does not work. I have a Asus router with DHCP enabled and it will not assign an IP.

I use TNAS PC and it doesn't find the F4-210. I have to change the IP address of my pc to the stupid 169.xxx and then it will find it.

I try to use TNAS PC to change the IP and sometimes it says it works but most of the time it doesn't. Even when it says it works, it really doesn't.

I decide to go forward anyway and will change the IP once the OS is running.

It boots, checks both of my WD Red Pro 16tb drives and installs and reboots. Once it boots, I try to change the IP and no matter what IP address I change it to, it has an error saying the IP address is already in use. This is a bug! The IP address I am trying to use is correct and not in use. The interface will not let me do anything with the IP.

I did get it to change once using the TNAS PC app, but after the installation and reboot, it goes back to the 169.xx and it will not let me change the IP to manual, again giving me the same error that the IP is already in use.

How do I get past this? I'm ready to return this and buy another brand.

There is really something wrong with this code and the PC app. I was able to change the IP with the TNAS PC app, says sucessful. I then can find it on my network for a few minutes. It then returns to the default IP of 169xx and I'm back to square one. I change it again, reboot, and again it returns back to the 169.xxx again.

I can get into the UI for a short time before it drops off the network. I changed the IP to manual, but leaving it as 169.xxx because it won't let me change it to anything else. When I try to change it to a 10.x network IP, it says the address is already in use and won't let me change it.

How do I get past this?

After more searching and trying just about everything, I found the answer and issue. I share for anyone else that has this issue.

Read the first post on this page viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2750&hilit=This+IP ... s&start=10

In short, make sure your pc address does not starts with IP 169.x.x.x, change tnas IP address on TNAS PC app and input default password: admin.

I didn't have an IP set on the pc nic because it is set to dhcp, no router to issue one so blank. when I ran ipconfig, it showed no ip address. The tnas uses the pc address to check for valid network addresses, so I assume. Because I had no local ip, it would only work with the default 169.xxx address. This was also the reason that the ui would not let me change the ip, and why the default ip returns after reboot.

I set my pc nic to a valid ip on my network, connected that to the tnas and I was able to change the ip. I was able to login to the ui and confirm all network settings, I only had to change the subnet mask and save it. After that, I disconnected the pc and connected the tnas directly to my router. All good now.
