F2-420 RAM Memory compatibility

I'd like to upgrade my ram and I would like to know other people's experience upgrading with ram that is not the offical terramaster recommended ram. If so, what specs did you use for this Nas model(F2-420--Intel Celeron CPU J1900 4gb ram)? Any input would be highly appreciated!
