Hi crisisacting,

Yes I have followed the procedure outlined in the post, to no avail.

I was even on to the help chat yesterday. All they said was reformat your hard drives and start again.

As of yet I haven't managed to format the drives. The instructions given by TerraMaster aren't too helpful.

I'll give it a try today and see how I get on.

I'll probably end up buying a SATA-USB cable.

Regards

Re-install does not work!!
I am quiet desperate and yes, I have followed the procedure outlined in the initial post at the start of this very thread to no avail!

Summary:
1. I am not an expert, but have started with ZX81.
2. I have F5-221 RAID1 and using chrome
3. Suddenly TNAS not working and it seems I have to reinstall TOS.
4. Take out all HD and start new install as described.
5. All goes as described (installing automatically see pics below) until the end. However, restart does not work and timer stops. After manually restart all is back to start/zero
6. Procedure has been tried several times

I cannot upload photos willsend deperately

There is a possibility that your initboot version is lower. Please refer to this available installation version before automatically installing the new version. viewtopic.php?f=76&t=921 Additionally, if you are trying to install TOS5 and your hard drive structure from TOS4 may not be suitable for the latest TOS5, you can try installing TOS 5.0.176(keep this version and dont update again): https://download2.terra-master.com/TOS_ ... 111430.ins If it is not a problem of initboot or TOS version, you need to troubleshoot issues with the hard drives.

1. I have a F2-221
2. I have backed up my data
3. removed the two hard drives and deleted all partitions (via a Linux desktop)
4. started the NAS with no hard drives and waited two minutes
5. inserted hard drives
6. deleted browser cache
7. went to tnas.local
8. selected "custom" installation
9. downloaded 5.1.103 installation package
10. installation started and then aborted at 90%
I did 3.-7. again and selected "standard"
it failed at 90% again

what can I do? Ideally I want a 5.1 system with 8GB system partition. But quite frankly: right now I take anything that gets the thing working again.

don't seem to be able to edit.
I did it all again and tried the 5.0.176 file. that worked and made the system partition 8GB, so from there I could update to 5.1.67

Please use the "Restore Factory Settings" in the control panel to clean the system partitions on all four disks.
When installing TOS, you can choose the disk that needs to install TOS.

I am preparing to upgrade my system from TOS 4.2.40 to 5.0.176.
Once I have upgraded to 5.0.176, I intend to perform further upgrades.
I understand that a system reset and OS installation needs to be completed to perform the upgrade and have a few questions before I commit

1. Once the upgrade to 5.0.176 is complete, is it necessary to increase the size of the system partition to move to 5.1 versions and, if so, how is this completed?
2. I currently have 6 iSCSI LUNs connecting to various servers, will these need to be re-created and will the data need to be reloaded from backup?
3. I have data stored in the TOS 4.2.40 admin account private area, should this be moved to a different location prior to performing the update?
4. Will user accounts have to be re-created?
5. Can a TOS 4.2.40 system configuration backup be restored to TOS 5.0.176?

My system comprises:
Terra-Master F4-220
4 x 4TB Ironwolf HDD
3 x 4TB RAID5 btrfs, Storage Pool # 1, Volume # 1
1 x 4TB Hot spare
6 x iSCSI LUN assigned on Volume # 1
Terra-Master F4-220
4 x IronWolf 4TB
RAID5 BTRFS with hot spare
iSCSI Configured
