Hi,
I'm in troubles too.
I got my brand new F4-423 from a week or so.
It started directly with TOS 5.1 (I think it was 5.1.42).
I put the o.s. and apps on the 1TB nvme drive as single disk/storage pool.
Then I put 4 hdd all as single disks.
I configured my shares, web server, qbittorrent, tmf backup and plex.
All was working perfectly from 6 days.
Then I did 2 things:
1. installed deduplicator app and run it over plex library. It took many hours to finish without finding any duplication at the end.
2. after that, I installed virtualbox, downloaded manjaro xfce iso and started creating a new virtual machine.
During installation of manjaro into the new virtual machine, the process froze in the middle (I was connected through windows remote desktop connection).
I remember I saw that VM folder was created into Superuser home
So I powered off the pc (I didn't touch the nas) and went to sleep.
The day after from the pc I started the browser, which keep all opened sessions of the last time, focused the nas one that was prompting for access.
I provided Superuser credentials, as I do every day from when I bought the nas, but it stated: "User does not exist!".
The page was refreshing correctly in the browser.
From my windows file explorer, I could access the shared folders.
So I thought to restart the nas... it wasn't stuck and it could be powered of normally pressing it's button.
But when I restarted it, the usual address I was used to use (
http://tnas.local:8181/tos) was unreachable.
I tried to ping the ip address it always had (192.168.1.172) and it was responding (4ms).
So I tried the folllowing URL:
http://192.168.1.172:8181 and it load a complete white page with only this in the middle: "Loading..., please wait!"
I didn't changed the default accessibility so ssh and telnet and I remember they were closed, so I powered off the nas and plugged an hdmi cable connected to a tv and I saw some errors in boot.
After a while during boot time, the console keeps printing the following:
cat: /var/run/TOSDaemon.pid: no such file or directory
I started to worry about my data!
I powered off the nas, removed all 4 hdd and powered on again but nothing changed.
I tried to log-in (using ENTER or ALT-Fx) but nothing worked: seems the os is still in boot phase.
I mounted one of the HDD to a linux pc and I can see the content with no errors (phew!)
And now I don't know what to do: if it's possible, I wouldn't waste all the configurations I did.
And still, if I am forced (sigh) to reinstall TOS, will I be able to reconnect my hdds without loosing data?
I made a video (11MB) but I can't attach as it says it's too big.
I put it here:
