Hello,

I have a TerraMaster D2-310 in RAID 1.
I tried to take out one hardrive from the TerraMaster enclosure and to reed it directly with my computer (Apple iMac) and I can't access the hardrive. Why ? How can I read it in case a failure from the TerrasMaster enclosure for example ?
Best regards,
Ben

How is your hard drive connected to the computer? Connecting the hard drive to the computer requires a SATA cable or a hard drive enclosure.

Helloo TMSupport,

Yes off-course I use a separate hard drive enclosure + USB cable. And with my iMac I can't acces the file. It's says to me to initialise the drive. I tried both of them. Not working.

And when I put them back on the Terramaster enclosure every thing is working fine.

It's just a test in case of a failure of the TerraMaster enclosure.

Best regards,
Ben

Does the hard drive enclosure you are using support RAID 1 ?

No, it's a simple Drive enclosure for reading hard drive. I thought it will work.

Which file system is on your hard drive? please make sure the file system is macOS compatible.

When I installed my new TerraMaster D2-310 with 2 news harddrive, the system (OSX) prompt-me to format them. So I choose Mac OS Extended and I format them.

So again with terramaster Enclose every thing works fine.
Without the TerraMaster enclosure, with just one disk and my ICY-Box IB-116StU3-B (https://youtu.be/Za2G9e8yETo) it doesn't work.

Best regards

If you choose a correct file system, or your USB enclosure works fine, normally the drive taken from a RAID 1 can be recognized by computer. We did not verify it for every kind of file system, you can try different file systems or different enclosures. But the product was not designed to be used like that.
Anyway, if your D2-310 fails and is out of warranty, you can buy a new one.
