Hi everyone,
a couple of days ago I tried running a Secure Erase on HDD2 (a Toshiba 4TB drive) on my F2-220 but during the process there was a power loss. After rebooting I found out that the drive was password locked and could not run secure erase again. I tried connecting the drive to my Windows pc (through an external SATA to USB adapter connected after boot) to perform a format but it seems like it's now password protected and no tool can access it. I tried unlocking it using various passwords including the TOS password, but nothing seems to work.
Is there a default password that TOS sets when running secure erase? Is there any way I can recover this disk?
TOS was updated to the latest version when I started Secure Erase.
Thanks for your help.
HDD locked after failed Secure Erase
Re: HDD locked after failed Secure Erase
The drive can get locked if power failure during the secure erase. There is quite a lot of similar information online. I got one for your reference, hopefully, it can be helpful.
