Read TNAS ext4 drive on a pc?

I saw another post, but it was locked without an answer.

How do I read a TNAS ext4 formated drive that is pulled with a PC? Windows/linux/etc?

Better to use (exFAT) to insure works and nearly all OS... It was designed especially for (External USB)... to replace FAT32...

Unless you install an application/driver to support the EXT file system in Windows, you'll need to use Linux.

If it's just for recovery purposes, download a distribution & make a USB drive to load into a live environment to do that.

You could also use a virtual machine, even within Windows, if your PC has virtualization capabilities (most CPUs do have this, however it may be disabled in UEFI/BIOS; you'd just need to passthrough that external HDD to that VM.
