Hi,

It seems it's not possible to set a quota for TimeMachine backups under TOS 4.1.x on F2-210 at least (setup with btrfs filesystem).
This is a big problem as TimeMachine incremental backups will gradually fill-up all available storage space on NAS, and pruning backups with TimeMachine is really cumbersome.

btrfs allows to set quota per shared folder so it should be possible to limit TimeMachine expansion that way (this can be found on competitor products of same category).

I hope this can be considered and available very soon in a release.

Hi, the quota limitation for Time Machine has been cancelled in TOS 4.1. This requirement will be considered seriously by the Software Development Dept.

This is critical feature for proper TimeMachine backup solution: one must control backup size over time, or it will fill the entire NAS!

Sorry, it's not been get back in TOS4.1.21. And no new features will be added in TOS 4.1. And it's possible in TOS4.2.

It's quite unfortunate to hear as competition (S** for instance) is reliably offering such feature on very similar HW (same processor, etc) for a long time, now at similar price-point...
Setting a form of quota for backup is kind of critical for a NAS.

TOS 4.2 beta may be ready in month. We do not know which new features will be added into this version, but we know this feature is under development.

Thanks for the update Roy. However, that statement is quite surprising as I assume you have a feature roadmap, and items probably do not appear in releases just by chance

We do have roadmap for sure. But the roadmap was made by quarter, and new features need to be developed and approved it can be released. So I do not know what is coming in next new update.

I only can underline the urgency of this feature. Your marketing says, Time Machine is supported on TerraMaster NAS systems, but without a quota for the Time Machine folder, the NAS will fill up with Time Machine Backup Data until there is no space left at all on the whole NAS device.

Is there meanwhile a release date for the next TOS version and will this version support a quota for Time Machine?
