F5-221 RAM upgrade Specifications

The F5-221 is expandable from 2GB to 10GB.
Nowhere in the supplied documentation or the online compatibility chart can I find the specifications for compatible RAM upgrades.

I'm looking to expand to the full 10GB.

As such, I would appreciated advice as to the correct RAM to purchase.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have a related question. There seems to be conflict from different sources on what the actual maximum RAM is thst can be installed. Can you please clarify?

No matter what TNAS model, the RAM expansion slot supports up to 8G.

So, did you? And did it work out?

I can confirm that I installed an 8GB SODIMM DDR3L 1600Mhz into my F5-221 and it has been working flawlessly. I actually had one lying around from an old laptop.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the processor in the F5-221 cannot address more than 8GB of total ram:

It won't do any harm, as far as I'm aware, but just be aware that any system ram above 8GB is probably being wasted.

Good to know, thanks DiscoSi. Now I'm going to need to find a way to test that ;) I'm fine if it only actually uses 8GB - the ram I had was just lying around anyway, but it would be fun to test it.

According to this, the system supports up to 16GB of memory - but since the first 2GB are soldered onto the board, the max would be 10GB. I'm not disputing any documentation for the CPU that says otherwise. I'm just reading the output of the dmidecode command in Linux.

[root@tmnas~]# dmidecode -t 16
# dmidecode 3.1
Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
SMBIOS 3.0.0 present.
