I use my nas really as a server, 3 JBOD + 1 large hotswap drive that I sync folders using an app on Windows via file share.

Is there an app on TNAS to copy/sync folders (not drives) from say Original FolderA on Vol1 to FolderA-dup on Vol4?

There is currently no function dedicated to this, but you can use "Rsync Backup" to do the job.
By the way, hot spare disk does not work for JBOD, but only for redundant arrays such as raid1, raid5, raid6, raid10...
