Hello Terra Master Support,

I have a TNAS F2-221.
After new update version 4.2.28 there are big problems.

Is Virtual Box installed, with update 4.2.28 the whole system does not start anymore. It is no longer possible to access the Terra Master and I have to reinstall the system.

I have now done some tests and found that with version 4.2.18 and Virtuall Box everything works great.

But as soon as I install version 4.2.28 together with Virtual Box, it destroys the whole system and login is no longer possible. Also, the interface of the TNAS device can no longer be accessed.

Are you already aware of this error ? Will the error be fixed soon, since I can no longer use Virtual Box.

Hi! After verification we found that TOS 4.2.28 is not compatible with VirtualBox app. We will fix it soon.

I have the same problem, how do I uninstall Virtual Box?
If I want to go back to the previous version, how should I proceed?

For me, unfortunately, only a complete system reset has function. So a complete reinstallation.

Your data is usually not affected, because the RAID is mounted cleanly again. If you have saved your TNAS - Config, the settings and users can be restored almost completely.

How did you reinstall everything? I have 2 HD ext4.
The procedure indicates that I have to insert the HDs with the system on. Right?
Won't they damage themselves?

For my F2-221 the reinstallation works as follows :

1. switch off Terra Master
2. remove the hard drives.
3. switch on Terra Master.
4. after 2 minutes in switched on state insert hard disks.
5. now the Terra Master is in "initialization mode".
6. run the normal new installation, e.g. with TNAS Desktop App, just as you started your Terra Master the first time.

I also have the same problem and I don't want to lose all my data!
Before installing the 4.2.28 (from 4.2.18) version I had VirtualBox up and running.
Soon I will try the initialization procedure and I hope it goes well...

This is a big issue, and we aren't beta testers.
So TM needs to enhance their QA procedures before release TOS updates\patches.
This is not a criticism, just an observation/feedback to improve our experience with this NAS.

If you reinstall the system by initializing the Terra Master, the RAID array will remain and will be mounted again during the reinstallation. This worked perfectly for me. In addition, I regularly made system settings backups. So you can restore the system settings with one click almost completely.
