Fast network search

Sorry, I am new to the forum.
I need a better way to find files inside my TNAS f4-422
I have a huge number of files. Searching inside TNAS webpage always error for a timeout. Searching only for filenames I cannot finish any search.
Anyway, is there a better way to search for filenames and content in a networked drive?
Is it possible to create an index for faster searching?
