OpenVPN, convert .der to .crt

I just bought an F2-422 and I'm trying to set up the VPN connection.
I have downloaded the configuration files from the ProtonVPN site and the certificate.
However, the certificate I have is in .der format, not in .crt
As a result, it does not appear in the browser. I googled around, trying to convert a .der certificate to .crt, without much luck.
Eventually, when I try to save a connection, I end up with a spinning icon.
Any ideas on how to set this up?
