Stupidly long rebuild times

Hi,

Got my D5 on Friday, set it up and started to copy data.

The RAID5 failed almost immediately.
Oh well, I thought, at least its a chance to see how well it rebuilds.

Ha!
Its now on the FIFTH day, only done 36% and is saying that it will take another 46hr, which is said last night.

All I can think of doing is copy off the data I managed to get on it.
Nuke it.
Set it up again.
Then try another test rebuild, as this time seem rather unacceptable to me.

My Synology did a rebuild, starting on the Friday, was all finished by the Saturday.

What are other peoples experience concerning rebuild times please?

Thanks,
Simon

What capacity hard disk are you using, and whether the hard disk is the same model?

Normally raid sync doesn't cost such time. the sync speed is about 150-180MB/s for mechanic drive. Please make sure you are using suitable drives for your raid.

There are 3 Blue 4TB drives are in it.
I believe I have the right drivers.
Although I thought as it was hardware RAID the drivers wouldn't influenzas that?

Its not even up to 40% now.
Still trying to get the data off it to nuke it.

Nuked it in the end.
Having another go now.

Do you think formatting in APFS or using 4K sector size might have had anything to do with it please?

Blue drive is desktop hard drive, it is not recommended to use blue drive for raid configuration.

Yes, I know that.
However, I do not believe it to be the HDD that was the cause of the long times.

When I tried to power it off, it wouldn't.
In the end I had to remove the power.
