Hi,

I have a new F4-421 and am having problems getting through initialisation.

To start with, I couldn't get the NAS to get an IP address. Its plugged directly into the router.
The power light was on solid green, the network light was flickering green and the 4 HDD lights were solid RED.
No sign of the device on the router, so probably an issue with the network.
Finally fixed by plugging into a different port on the NAS - I know you say you can only use one network port, but you don't say which one

Now it gets an IP address and appears on the network.
I installed the two WD RED 4TB drives and now I have 2 green HDD lights.
(Drives are WDC WD40EFAX-68JH4N0)

TNAS-PC can see the NAS and when I click on login I get the initialisation page in my browser.
Auto download failed immediately, so I manually downloaded 4.1.30 from the TM website and tried manually.
File unzipped OK and initialisation started at 50%, then promptly failed at 55% with the message "Installing has TOS failed! Please restart TNAS and try again".
Have retried multiple times, all with the same result.

Help please.

This situation may be due to the following reasons:
1. The hard disk has not been formatted, you need to reformat the hard disk once. You can use windows to low-level format the hard disk.
2. The version of the small system is relatively low. Can you provide a screenshot with a version of the page?

I have initialised the drives as GPT and formatted each as a single NTFS partition.
Tried again with no success

Version on the initialisation screen is J3455_V4.3

Hi Hooky,

You need to download TOS 4.1.27 and TOS 4.1.30, and then update to TOS 4.1.30 after successful installation of TOS 4.1.27.
Then you can go to the control panel and click Automatic Update to update to the latest system.

Success!
Now updated to 4.2.08 and all ok.
