Basic web based image service

I'd like to run a basic image hosting service which can be accessed by web browsers.
I've looked through the multimedia servers available, such as Plex and Emby, but these require custom client applications. I could install Tomcat or "web server" but then I'd need to provide my own html/javascript. Does one of the available applications provide image hosting which clients can access via a standard web browser?
