Navidrome is an open-source, self-hosted music streaming server designed as a modern alternative to Subsonic. Written in Go, it is fast and memory-efficient, making it ideal for NAS devices, Raspberry Pi, or low-power servers.
Out of the box, Navidrome includes a clean, responsive web interface that works in any browser, letting you browse, search, and play your collection without additional clients. It also supports the Subsonic/OpenSubsonic API, so mobile and desktop apps like DSub, Symfonium, Sonixd, or Sublime Music can connect seamlessly.
The server offers multi-user accounts, each with personal playlists, favorites, and listening history. Its scanner automatically imports your music, reads tags, and fetches album art, lyrics, and artist info from the internet. Smart playlists let you filter by genre, year, play count, and more. On-the-fly transcoding via ffmpeg supports formats like MP3 or Opus, adapting to bandwidth. Last.fm and ListenBrainz integration enables scrobbling, and the UI supports themes, multiple languages, and a REST API.
Deployment is simple with Docker Compose or a single binary. The web UI runs on port 4533, and the music folder plus data folder are mounted as volumes. Navidrome is actively maintained and a top choice for self-hosted music.
