[Discussion] Doing a save configuration

Talking about TOS 7
You save the system configuration before updating to the next release.
I hope it doesn't happen but if you run into enough issues that a normally a reset configuration would be the next step.
Does having saved the configuration before the update help, even though the saved config would be a release behind?

We understand your concerns. Backing up your configuration before major updates is not only not redundant, but also a powerful safeguard against unforeseen risks.

Even configuration files created based on older versions are often the fastest and most effective way to restore your system after encountering problems. It saves you from lengthy and tedious operations such as rebuilding all users and reconfiguring services, allowing you to directly recover from a failure to a service-available state.

Primary recommendation: Restore to the same version whenever possible. Restoring an older configuration to a new system carries unpredictable compatibility risks.
