What it Does in Your F4-425The Hardware:
It is a tiny, proprietary daughter board attached to an internal USB header via a standoff and secured with a single screw.
The Function:
It contains a small amount of flash memory (historically 1GB–4GB, but updated to a compact ~250MB Flashdisc in the 425-series). Its sole purpose is to store the lightweight initboot / bootloader for TerraMaster's TOS operating system.
That's good to know! Is there a possibility to reflash it, in case it gets corrupted (or overwritten by third-party operating systems)?

Great! This should be much more reliable. Is there an image avaliable to download, if this module was overwritten?

That posted file link appears to be the same file as linked in the original post in this thread - ie
Tos 6 UEFI 150MB
I don't know if that will use Tos7 as a default, given that on-line update from 6 -> 7 is not yet available. Maybe a Tos7 version will be made available in due course.
