Update from 5.1.145 to 6.0.530 failed on my F2-423. I have 16GB RAM and 5.1.145 installed on my NVMe M.2.
welcome to the club i failed as well but i got my system disks on normal disks.
Is TOS 6.0 still in beta and unstable? Currently, I don’t have any data stored on my HDDs, so I’ve been able to experiment with the system since purchasing this NAS in October 2024. I’ve been awaiting the official release of TOS 6.0, hoping it would be ready soon so that I could set up the NAS reliably. However, I’m now concerned that I may have made a premature decision in purchasing this device.
I currently have two 256GB NVMe M.2 drives and two 1TB SSDs installed, two 8TB IronWolf HDDs are on the way. If the HDDs arrive before TOS 6.0 is released, I plan to use TOS 5.1 for my setup by replacing the two SSD with ironwolf. We’ll see which arrives first.

I have severeral diffrent machines from terramaster.
And as far as i can tell once the os is installed its rock solid. but evertime you do a update from 5 to 6 everything breaks down.
so if they can just fix the updateing issue i do not see any problems.
But yeah its little annoying there is no easy way to fix update issues and if your usb gets corrupted its even harder to fix.
Why terramaster has not made an app in the TOS that repairs the usb is odd?

I just installed it on F5-221 not seeing it's not on the list. Not that I'd recommend doing this to anyone but till now at least I can see all the files in the internal volume/pool. However on the external drive attached via USB it reports as being empty, still investigating.Youtuve Vanced
Hello Fried, It sounds like you're making progress with the internal volume, but the external drive issue is a bit tricky. You might want to check the file system format on the external drive or see if there’s a compatibility issue. Let me know if you find anything.
The update was smooth and TOS 6 booted successfully. A couple of now-solved issues:
1. The update process seems to have corrupted the boot USB (I found out the hard way). I reset configurations and the NAS didn't recover from that - had to flash a new boot USB drive and install TOS from scratch (TOS 5.0.176 --> 5.1.24 --> 5.1.145 --> 6.0.530)
2. Plex lost the permissions to access media files, had to restore is via shared folder permissions.
I'm still unable to configure an VPN connection using an .ovpn file - I get "Configuration failed!" - what can I do to configure my VPN?

Hi. I'm on 6.0.519 but as I can read from the first post "This update only supports TOS versions from 5.1.145 and above to 6.0.229 and below. Please do not update from other TOS versions." I can't update to 6.0.530.
I saw a post saying that update from 6.0.519 was succesfully.
Is it safe to update?
Thanks

This was very helpful for flashing the initboot USB drive.
