I agree! If I'd have know this I would have bought a better NAS!

2. Shutdown NAS
3. Pull the drives from NAS
4. Power on NAS
5. When prompted about no HDDs, reinsert disks then wait for them to be checked
6. Now install the TOS 5 image from your desktop
7. When prompted setup Superuser Account and then it should be plain sailing

Thank you. I really wish that warning was removed or stated clearly that it wouldnt delete existing data. As by the time you see it, its too late to do a backup since you have already wiped TOS.

I regretted doing the update, and stalled at that warning thinking I was screwed, and support gave me mixed messages, live support said I would lose the data but email support said it was normal and wouldnt. I proceeded after your post and everything turned out fine in the end. TY.

TNAS for Android? when will it be done?

I used those apps too, but then I switched to resilio sync which is much simpler. Have you ever tried it?

I have not tried any of the proposed options ... I think I have to study a little ... Thanks!

i keep seeing "Custom" but im not seeing where this is. what am i missing? am i the only one? All i see is automadic install or Manually download and install from TOS. Am i missing a step?

When i used the Manual option i get Installing has TOS failed! Please restart TNAS and try again i have done this a few times with no success.
