Re: Applications on TOS - Updates
Sincerely, I do understand - as I'm sitting here reading all of the issues with the latest updates (both apps and 4.2.x updates), I'm not AT ALL inclined to even attempt to update because I'm already feeling my own pain from an app update that wiped out my backup jobs (not the data, just the scheduled jobs). In the end, I knew what I was getting into because I did my research, and weighed the cost against the slightly rougher edges of the TOS eco-system, but also took into account all of the positive reviews (both Amazon and YouTube), as well as the fantastic community here on the forums. I chose Terra-Master on purpose, and I have no intensions of switching... I just keep hope that I can hold on, and keep drinking my own kool-aid.
Best of luck.
Best of luck.

And kudos to you for bearing with it.
I honestly hope Terra-Master reaches the status of the other larger companies and with that the recognition from the tech community and app developers. Currently there are far too many limitations for my liking and as a result it's failed as a viable option for deployment.
I feel as though they have tried to reinvent the wheel with TOS, rather than using other more established software as a template and building from there.
It was bitter disappointment for me really, which is why i left it to the last day of my return window to finally pull the plug and decide I'd be better off with a different brand.

Re: Applications on TOS - Updates
I completely understand, I truly do. My intentions are to stick with it (much as yours were), but my return window doesn't close until Feb due to Amazon's x-mas extension... so there's still time for my mind to change. I'm honestly watching the 4.1.2 update very closely to see how quickly things become stable. I'm used to beta testing software, and systems (Windows Insider, Debian Unstable, TestFlight Apps) so I have a very developed set of patience for bug fixing. I would have beta tested the TOS firmware, but only if I had a 2nd NAS which at this point, I am not ready to pay for.
Patience aside, the bottom line is that, for me to stay on-board, the bugs need to eventually be fixed and the system needs to become stable. I've had nothing but stability so far since I bought my F5-221, which has been fantastic - but 4.1.2 will be my first real OS update, and we'll see how that goes (once I decide to do it).

Ah lucky, you get a fairly decent test drive then!
If i could get my stuff up and running how I'd planned, i would probably have been tempted to keep it and buy an additional nas and used this one to play around with.
If i had unlimited funds is be drowning in tech lol

Re: Applications on TOS - Updates
Wouldn't we all? lol I "invested" in my TM out of necessity (my old converted PC with old hard drives started to make scary data-disastrous noises), and for now it's serving it's purpose. My "fun" money I spent on a Raspberry Pi 400... so now my daughter only gets a hug for x-mas
In all seriousness, that's a fantastic point. The majority of consumers don't have heaps of money to buy unreliable tech and keep it just for fun. They want (and often times NEED) a product that's going to be reliable, and that's going to last. If you can't at least manage to meet stability, you're almost asking for them to jump-ship.

Haha that's the way to do it! She'll remember the hugs, probably not the toys anyway.
Well all the best with it all!
