Yes, your idea is correct. The USB system boot disk is a small USB drive, and inside the NAS, you will need to open it to retrieve the drive.

The compressed package I sent you contains two files: one is the V22 version of the BIOS file, which is used to upgrade from your V17 version, and the other is a Word document with the upgrade instructions. Simply follow the instructions in the document to complete the upgrade.

UPDATE

After updating the BIOS I had trouble with this always on screen
booting from INIT system
  • To fix I unplugged all the drives again
  • Started NAS - still stuck on INIT
  • Plugged back in drives
  • System started normally - HOORAY
I will report on the autostarting issue tomorrow morning.

Based on your description, it seems that the boot system does not automatically redirect to the TOS system startup.

I solved the boot problem as described above.

The BIOS update worked, thank you. The TNAS was powered down for the last three mornings.
