Re: TNASMobile won't do a full backup again

For example, I just wiped the storage files again and uninstalled the mobile app. After reinstalling the app, it is very clear it is caching information because it still has the device history of my NAS, and then when connected (for the first time as it were) to my NAS, it shows the file history of my last backup. (which the device shouldn't remember and no longer exists on the NAS)

Why is the app caching information from a previous installation? WHERE is it caching this information so I can wipe it out entirely? This is clearly an app issue and shouldn't be hard to resolve.

Help please.

If the Login history persists after reinstalling an app, you can try to find the TNAS mobile in the app management section of your phone's settings, select the options to "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache", and after that, you should be able to backup normally.

And where is that specifically on an android phone? There is no application management, not clear data or clear cache, unless you are implying i should wipe my phone?

Tnas mobile now removed, where now?

I have yet to get a response from support from emailing the logs. This has been a very poor support experience in what should be a simple issue to resolve.

I found it and honestly is an answer I surprised support didn't have at their fingertips.. the advice above is correct but so vague as to be helpful.

The app IS caching/data storing it's dtate, even after uninstall, which means it is leaving files behind. That is poor software design.

The app has to be installed, or you can't flush data and cache. The data is what is holding the incremental backup logs etc.

Here are more accurate steps for Android.

Gear icon
Apps
Tnas mobile
Internal storage

Then clear cache, but especially clear data.

Launch the app. It will NOW act like it's new, connect your NAS, and setup your backup again fresh.

Good luck to the next person and TerraMaster needs to dramatically improve your software design, and support quality.

Sorry, maybe I didn't express myself clearly enough before.
Normally, when the app is uninstalled, its cached data will also be cleared. But the situation you encountered is an exception, which may be related to differences in mobile phone systems.
We will consider adding an option to clear cache data within the app.
