Is 5.1.24 more recent than 5.1.123? The version number convention is a bit confusing.

That's like saying 5.5 is older compared to 5.15 because 15>5. The convention is that numbers after the decimal point are not counted in absolute terms. This just makes things needlessly confusing.

The last group of numbers after the decimal point in the future will start from 0. For example, 5.1.24 will be changed to 5.1.024.
